Electrochemical reduction of tungsten (VI) oxide from a eutectic melt CaCl2-NaCl under potentiostatic conditions

The paper presents results of the study electrochemical reduction tungsten(VI) oxide in a melt eutectic composition 52 mol% CaCl2 and 48 NaCl at liquid gallium electrode. Scanning electron microscopy X-ray diffraction methods were used to microstructures obtained powders. Rietveld method which is based on patterns calculate quantitative content phases WO3 products. thermodynamic properties electrolysis process investigated by voltammetry. It shown that necessary condition for potentials higher than standard electrode potential decomposition calcium tungstate, formed interaction tungsten with chloride. can take place both metallothermic mechanisms depending conditions electrolysis. product fine particle crystallite size up 1 ?m.
